Executed series

have started to paint small studies, from a series of small JPeg images found online of various executions by Electric chair.

This is the first

i hope to create images that i am happy with to go on and paint final images much larger and in more ‘realistic’ colours and tones.

Photo etching course

ok, i really havent updated this Blog in like forever, which is a deffinate sign i need to start producing more artwork.

Here is a Final print from my contiuining Photo etching series. This time its a little boy who has had brain sergery, im not sure of the exact date.

I tried to try something different than the Hiroshima and Nagasaki radiation victims from last time. I think this collection will encompass skin defects- mainly scars.

They hung it the wrong way round

In my mad day of running around london to get scans and prints ready for my first ever exhibition, i dropped off a little painting i did to the Holy Ghost group show.

I stupidly forgot to tell them which way to hang it so inevitably it got hung the wrong way round.

Cyanotype Transparency

Russian prison tattoo (hands)

not sure what happened here, but this was my first test print at making a Cyanotype print with a negative rather than objects.

I have tried to read up to why yellow/white patches appeared during exposure, although i like the aged/dappled affect, it somewhat distracts away from the actual image.

the exposure time was for about 10 mins, at 2 oclock, in what i would concider bright sunshine. The image is very faint and again i will have to experiment more to find out why. It may be the image wasnt a high enough reselution, or what i think it might be, not a long enough exposure/needed even brighter sunshine.

im going to try again, at 12, when the sun is directly above, failing that trying in Zoom-in’s darkroom.

Darkroom set up

im very much looking forward to the weather getting warmer then i can start transforming my shed into a darkroom.

Having done a few photography workshops i feel i have a basic level of understanding to set up my own at home.
I need sister to clear out her university odds and sods to then buy the nessesities, e.g chemicals, work table, and an enlarger. I should really begin researching the costs of setting up a darkroom.

Fortunately the shed is fairly intact (as was brought for me whilst at 6th form college to use as a studio, but ended up as a storage room).
i expect due to digital, buying equipment second hand maybe fairly easy and inexpensive, even if i can get hold of an enlarger i can always do contact printing and pinhole photography.

i worry about light proofing, i could easily rig up some blackout curtains but blocking out the light from gaps in the actual sheds structure may prove more difficult.

i hope this will prove to be a better economic solution to renting a darkroom as well as onsite equipment that i can continue to practice my new found techniques.
